A student team from the Technology, Science and Innovation (TeSI) Fusion Point Esade program, that has participated in the TECH2X pre-incubation program run by partner Almacube, presented their venture OrionLink at 4YFN as part of Esade’s stand during MWC Barcelona.
OrionLink is building decision-support technology that enables data center and high-performance computing (HPC) operators to make smarter energy and operational decisions with confidence. The platform uses existing operational data to simulate risks, reveal trade-offs, and compare “what-if” scenarios before changes are made.
By making uncertainty visible, OrionLink helps operators avoid costly over-provisioning, prevent outages caused by under-provisioning, and justify operational and strategic decisions with data. Starting with energy optimization for data centers, OrionLink aims to evolve into a broader provider of software and products that elevate operations, reduce risk, and enable more efficient and resilient infrastructure.
In essence, OrionLink is a decision-support tool that helps HPC operators choose and justify risky operational changes by making risks and trade-offs visible before acting, using the data they already generate.
The project builds on technological foundations originally developed in connection with European XFEL, one of the world’s leading research infrastructures. The material and technological approach is being tested in collaboration with XFEL, reinforcing the project’s strong scientific grounding and deep-tech potential while supporting its evolution toward scalable digital solutions.
OrionLink originated within the TeSI program, where the idea was shaped and validated at the intersection of technology, impact, and feasibility. It is now advancing after the Tech2x pre-incubation pathway, focusing on market assessment, customer discovery, and business model development to bring the solution closer to deployment.
Presenting at 4YFN marks an important milestone for the team, offering international visibility and direct engagement with startups, investors, corporates, and technology leaders operating at the forefront of digital infrastructure and deep-tech innovation.
